Physical Therapy for Scoliosis
The Schroth Method
The Schroth Method is the European standard of care for scoliosis and involves cognitive, sensory-motor, and kinesthetic training to teach the patient to improve her/his scoliosis posture. The program is an intense routine of auto-elongation exercises and stretches, rotational breathing, muscle facilitation, stabilization education and postural awareness techniques.

Non-Surgical Scoliosis Treatment
The goals of this non-surgical treatment are to stop/limit curve progressions, improve cosmetic appearance and general health, help the patient cope with the deformity and treatments and most importantly, increase functional abilities.
Traditionally physical therapy has played a minor role in management of scoliosis in the US, but this is rapidly changing. Patients and families are starting to take a more proactive approach in preventing curves from progressing and our scoliosis program offers the resources to comprehensively manage scoliosis in adults and children.
Our therapist, Barbara Coe, is a fully certified Schroth Therapist, having obtained both levels of certification through the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School.
